Default 34 Goudey Uncut Sheet...

Posted By: Frank Wakefield

This thread doesn't meet what I consider 'outing an auction', notwithstanding that I see nothing wrong with outing one.

In this auction the seller list the item as:

1930S VINTAGE GOUDEY BASEBALL CARDS UNCUT SHEET (10)

And that is not what he's selling. He's listed it in the area for 1934/35 baseball cards, and it isn't that old. He knows it isn't.

If he wanted to be forthright he'd list it as a Dover Reprint in the listing... but he hasn't, regardless of how nice a guy he is and what fine cards he sold in the past.

So I kinda like the post. And I hope some budding future collector of vintage cards doesn't get burned buying this as old, so that he or she gets mad and sours on the entire idea of collecting vintage cards. We need young collectors coming along out there, so we or our survivors can sell our stuff to the next collector. We don't need misleading sales strategies thinning the ranks of those future collectors.
