He pitched 93 innings pitched that year and posted an 18-1 record on a Pirate team that was 78-76. Understandably he had only 10 saves and in ten of his games he didn’t finish the game.
I suspect that the 1959 Pirates were tied in the late innings more than an other team in history.

Bill Campbell racked up a ton of wins in relief for the Red Sox in the 70's. Don't remember how many but 15 or 17 or something, might have been over on innings though.
