According to his SABR biography, Lonny had no interest in scouting or continuing on in baseball post-retirement, so it's a bit of a mystery what association he would have had with the Mets! He also predated the existence of that club by a longshot, so being a guest of the club for some sort of event makes very little sense considering there was no history between them of which I am aware. Anyone out there care to figure this out? Maybe he was a guest spring training instructor. Who knows?
Maybe an Oldtimer game (he did play for 3 NY teams, except the Mets)? Could have been billing the Mets as part of his participation?
