Is it just me or does this not make sense to anyone else:

"Since the highest rating would look like a conflict of interest, Haas said, he turned to longtime friend David Forman, president of SGC, to determine whether the flaws could be fixed without hurting its authentication."

How does it logically follow that due to a conflict of interest, he needs to have flaws removed from the card?
