Kevin CummingsI was never a huge Bobby Murcer fan (he just wasn't The Mick), so when the Yankees sent him packing for Bobby Bonds for the 1975 season I thought the Yankees had gotten themselves a steal (pun intended).
Bonds had a typical year for him (he could hit home runs, steal bases and strike out in the American League just the way he did in the National) and he even outfielded Yankeee stalwart Roy White. Bonds was one of those guys who never got cheated on a swing and created the same kind of buzz in the stands that Reggie did a couple of years later.
I'm not sure whether it was The Boss or Billy Marin (or both) that did him in, but when he left after only one season I thought the Yankees had made a mistake.
