Default Card Collectors Bulletin and early hobby history (in Sport Fan)

The January-February 1974 issue of Sport Fan was devoted to celebrating Card Collectors Bulletin, which was celebrating its 200th issue and the 25th anniversary of Charles Bray taking over as editor (and the 35th anniversary of the Bulletin itself, if you don't count Burdick's first eight issues from 1937-38). The cover story by Lionel Carter has a lot of great stuff about his memories of CCB, which he had subscribed to almost from the beginning, and of Charles Bray and other old-time collectors. I love that kind of stuff, and I think there are at least a few other people here who like it too. I was especially interested in the account of the 1957 meeting of Carter, Bray, and Wirt Gammon, and the 1958 gathering at Carter's house that included Bray, Buck Barker, Bob Solon, John Sullivan, Bill Leonard, and Bob Wilson. The latter meeting was probably the biggest gathering of collectors in one place until the 1969 West Coast convention that i recently posted about (here: http://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=221671).
