Scott SThe 12 million slabbed cards sounds accurate. A year or so ago, they touted a '54 common which got a PSA 10 as their 10 millionth graded card.
PSA's numbering system is all over the boards. I have cards with a cert # starting with 9, many starting with 3, etc. So they are not all sequentially numbered.
There is a theory out there that the first 3 digits are related to who actually does the grading, but PSA has rebuffed that, so the pattern remains a mystery.
