These are character portrayals just like any non-reality sitcom. It's all for entertainment value, and the prices they apparently pay for goods have nothing to do with "reality". No real pawn shop operates that way, but it's still fun to watch.
I remember that episode. Very true, Perezfan. I don't watch it any more. The novelty is over. I only watch it on the History channel website when I want to watch Drew Max and his hubble-sized magnifying glass.
