Default So should W514s actually be 1920-22?

Good day folks,

Perhaps this has already been covered somewhere, but I didn't see it while searching. I do not own the current SCD book, but I *believe* they changed the year of issue of W514s this year to say 1920-21. That particular fact may be wrong, but OldCardboard.com has it as a 1920-21 issue right now.

Anyway, assuming the change to 1920 is correct, I'm wonder if the 1921 should actually also bump up a year to 1922, based on the fact that Gibson resigned from the Pirates on June 30, 1922. There are a handful of newspaper articles that announce this in their July 1, 1922 issues, but are pay-per-view or by subscription only.

One such example:

The caption on Gibson's card [image courtesy of OldCardboard.com] says he's the 'former manager':

As I understand, Gibson managed the Toronto Maple Leafs of the IL for the 1919 season. I believe that announcement was made in January of 1919, and then in December of 1919, the announcement of him joining the Pirates was made. To the best of my knowledge, there was no agreement in place for him to manage Pittsburgh *before* the January, 1919 announcement, and I don't believe he took a managing hiatus between 1920 and 1922 until his departure [based on his managing record on baseball-reference.com].

If anyone has any information to the contrary, or perhaps that further supports my thinking, I'd love to hear it.

Regards,

Richard.
