Mark, through some research I was able to determine that the 1910 Pirates were going with (9) new players for the 1910 year, some of those never made the field (Ed Bridges, Ralph Cutting, and Humphries.) The other recruits were Vin Campbell, Webb, Harry Camnitz (Howie's brother), Sharpe, McKechnie, and Flynn.
In that photo on the porch I was able to identify all of the players above except Humphries (Cutting is sitting right below the pillar with the dark sweater all by himself). Originally, I had thought it was Bert Humphries as he would play for the 1910 Phillies (making his debut for them that year), but the individual isn't Bert Humphries.
Thus I began looking and I came across a piece on ebay that seems to answer the question of who "Humphries" was...

If you look it actually appears that the image of the newspaper article was taken the same day as Cutting has on the same sweater and even some of the hats worn by the players are in the same position as the team shot. In the back left is the player that is unidentified in the team shot and he is listed as "Humphries" but the great thing about this piece is the bio info below the image where it identifies the player as Willis Humphries and not Bert.
It should be noted that Willis Humphries then spent the 1910 season with nearby Wheeling, WV.
