1885 Constitution & Playing Rules of the National League
Tough times are forcing me to sell a few items and this is one of them. This is an original copy of the 1885 Constitution and Playing Rules of the National League. Approximately 80 pages. The booklet is in very nice condition. The only major flaw is that the front cover is about 90% detached from the rest of the book. The binding is very tight and the inside is clean. Small chip to the bottom right corner of the cover.
This booklet offers a fantastic view into the evolving game of baseball and some of the now extinct rules (such as the batter requesting a high or low strike zone). There is also a list of ball clubs and league leaders in the back. Some of the leaders include Cap Anson, King Kelly, Jim O'Rourke and other Hall of Famers! There is also a nice advertisement for Spalding baseballs.
It's tough to find this 19th century stuff and I wish I didn't have to sell it.
Price is now $200.00 including US shipping. Please email or PM me if interested.
