Picked up an interesting group of items this week:
-1960, (first season at Candlestick) SF Giants schedule put out by the distillers of Cyrus Noble bourbon
-34" Burke Hanna "Grand Prize" bat. Can anyone tell me the approx era of this bat and possibly the significance to the "Grand Prize" label (marketing slogan?)
-a July 18, 1898 scored, baseball game scorecard played between two "Canadian League" teams (I am unsure if this is the correct league identifyer as web reasearch indicates that it may be an ressurrection of the older International league?) - the London Cockneys and the Hamilton Hams.
London players include "Kid" Mohler, Sam LaRocque, Pete Lohman etc.
This team appears to be the first stop in Moose Grimshaw's career, as Baseball ref.com lists him appearing in 4 games in London and while his name isn't on the pre-printed line up portion of the card, the fan who owned this card has pencilled in what appears to be full roster of the London team on the back and it includes Grimshaw.
Sorry about the poor picture quality, I will scan this scorecard and repost this weekend for those interested (it is carefully scored) .
Hamiton players include - Bunk Congalton, Marr Phillips etc.
