Agreed, just part of the picture.
A card with a similar type of problem is the E121 (and other E121 like sets) of Dickie Kerr. Every one of his cards has what appears to be a "4" etched into the image and sometimes people selling the card (and the graders) will think that someone later wrote that on the front--I've been able to pick up a few on the cheap because of it...
