Its really odd to find how life takes strange twists and turns and can connect you to an event hundreds of miles away such as this one.
I too had a distant connection as Dallas Green signed my paychecks when I worked for the Cubs and had many chances to meet the whole Green family and even attended a few parties at their house thrown by their daughter while the parents were on road trips (yeah we were young!! I wish I could be 25 year old again). While I will never say I was friends with the father of the little girl who lost her life I certainly knew him back in the day. Imagine my shock to wake up Sunday morning and see the reports that it was his daughter who perished in the tragedy.
And another odd turn is that my sister spent many many months at the Chicago rehab institute even before the "new building" they are in now. We would spend hours waiting for doctors ect there and now to find out one of the victims worked at the rehab institute is really odd for me too.
This tragedy has effected me in ways I cannot explain. My heart goes out to all of these victims and their families as well as the others who experienced this senseless act but were shot wounded. This single act of terrorism will impact a great many people for a great number of years.
