In the early 1900s there were folders (like with the Ruth) where you slip the photo into the 'frame.' The photo can be removed and something else slipped in. The original photo wasn't glued in like with a cabinet. They are in the general style of cabinet cards except have a foldover cover. They were made for family photos, but commercial issues-- and the photos would be real photo not lithos or anything. The folder may be vintage, but the Ruth pic is an odd partner.
The folders aren't rare, but are much less plentiful than cabinets.
