Great table top game from Australia circa 1900. "BIFFIT", "Cricket and Baseball in the Home", "Rage of Two Continents", "The Latest Craze", A BIG Hit", - all printed on the box.
Era of manufacture coincides with the interest garnered from Spalding's World Tour that visited down under in the late 1800's. Box shows heavy use/wear but is still quite solid. Measures 13 inches x 6.5 inches x 4 inches. Includes original instruction/rules sheet/diagram, which is shows lots of wear and tear and is nearly separated along a central, horizontal fold. Speaks to "pitcher" instead of "bowler" and "batsman". Sheet measures 12 inches x 9.5 inches.
Also includes wooden equipment show in diagram - two end pieces with brass? pulleys mounted to them, with string, two goal brackets (top bar is not present), bat and top-like wooden block whcih I assume acts as the ball that shoots back and forth? Pieces look to be original and is great shape.
