I know nothing about photos. That being said, this looks to me to be some sort of press photo. It is 4-1/2" x 7", and appears to have been cut from a larger photo. Has a full length vertical crease on the right side. The white spot just below his hand is paper missing. The reverse photo speaks for itself. Joe was with the Washington Senators only in 1924. It's not in top condition, but does display nicely. Thanks.
