A civil arrest warrant differs from a criminal arrest warrant in that it directs a sheriff or sheriff’s deputy to arrest an individual and either take them to a hearing when civil court is in session or release them on a personal recognizance bond subject to their appearance in civil court.
With criminal warrants, the person charged can be arrested and taken directly to jail.
