Default Ebay etiquette

I meant to bid on a copule of baseball items last night but got caught up in the NCAA tournament and before I knew it, I realized I had forgotten to bid.

Maybe I should just let it go but wanted some opinons. On Ebay, I cannot tell who won the auction until the seller or buyer leave feedback. Is it appropriate to wait for one of the parties to leave feedback, find out who the buyer was, and offer twice or more what they paid? I'm not sure I would want someone doing that to me, but maybe I would depending on the item. BTW two of the items are nearly identical and were sold together and I would be satisfied with just one.

My question is what do others think about this approach, is it excessively rude, or have you ever done it? Thanks.
