To follow up on my position that speed does not equal steals, I did a quick search on the definition of a "five tool player". Speed refers to a player with the speed in order to maximize extra base hits, which dramatically improve a team's chances of scoring runs. He must also be
a threat to steal bases, which puts more pressure on the opposing pitcher, catcher and defense. Certainly steals are a component of this tool, but not the sole criteria.
