Hate all you want. That hatred feeds the Yankees and their desire to win. Almost every other owner is thrilled when they are merely able to compete. For the last 36 years, the Yankees have been owned and run, by people who demand to win, not just compete.
Do they spend more? Sure. Their tickets, concessions, parking, and especially, TV revenue, generate more money than the other teams. What do you suggest that they do with that money? Other owners pocket that money. Steinbrenner spends it. When the league charges a luxury tax, he kicks in his share, and other owners pocket that too. They know that their fans will accept losing on a regular basis. Yankee fans won't. Did you know that in the last year reported, only four major league teams lost money. Some losing teams make millions of dollars in profits every year. Steinbrenner has always invested it back in the team.

I have no idea what team you root for. It doesn't matter. Blaming the money is easy, because it can't fight back. But the owners who point to money are using misdirection to convince their fans that their management is not at fault.
