Default sale post-mortem

I'm happy to say that the sale well exceeded the expectations of all participants. Virtually all of the wax, a substantial amount, sold. The sale was well-attended and we came away with a list of about 30 emails as a base to advertise future events.

I brought some pre-war stuff and sold a few cards. Another collector brought in 50s and 60s cards, another football, etc. That is, all participants covered a specific niche so as not to step on each others' toes. As the sale was billed more as a garage sale type of event, I think the vast majority of people came looking for bargain box or heavily discounted box purchases.

When we do it again, we'll place a bit more emphasis on the card show aspect to attract more vintage collectors.

The key to success is of course the advertising. We advertised in the Washington Post classified, Craig's list, PSA chatboard, and my little blurb here.

Most importantly, it was fun and we all took in a few bucks.

If anyone is looking to stage such a sale, I'll be happy to answer any questions or to generally relay any knowledge gained from the experience.
