I hadn't heard about this--very excited to see it. I've been a big Josh Gibson fan for years--my father was living in New York City and going to baseball games from the late 1930's through the 1970's, and I always bugged him about how he should have gone to see some Negro League games when he was a kid. He assures me that it wasn't even talked about by white folks back then. It's a shame. One of my favorite pieces ever sold by Heritage Auctions was Gibson's 1941 Puerto Rican League contract:
