The results of Tournament #9 (September) of the
Old Cardboard 2009 Texas Hold'em Series are not posted on the
Old Cardboard website.
Congratulations to last night's winner John Effenheim ("QeffeQ") of Milwaukee, a first-time participant in the Series. In addition to John's $55 winnings, he accumulated 7 points toward the 2009 Series trophy.
There remain three tournaments to play in the 2009 Series so placing in the top five continues to be a realizable goal for all players.
Steve Murray took second place last evening and added 5 points to his Leaderboard total, giving him a commanding lead for the Series. Steve is getting pretty sure of himself, with stats to back him up, for winning the 2009 Series Grand Prize and Roving Trophy.
Welcome also to two relative newcomers to the Series: Jeff North ("largertrain" of Ruckersville, VA) and Eric Pugh ("gepetto55" of Palm Beach Gardens, FL). Neither player, however, is a newcomer to vintage card collecting. Jeff has been collecting vintage cards for 30 years and runs a card shop in Charlottsville, VA. Eric is a longtime collector of both pre-war and early Topps issues, especially the elusive 1951 Major League Allstar set.
The October tournament (
Old Cardboard #10) is now set up on the PokerStars website for October 27. It is PokerStars tourney #197755313; password for registration is r327r327.
Hope to see you at next month's tournament; good luck to all plalyers.
