I would say that the Boston (AL) fans hated McGraw even more than the A's fans. Mugsy wielded so much power back in 1904
that he refused to play Boston in the World Series because he considered them unworthy. He declared his Giants the "World
Champions".
Before Babe Ruth, Boston was hexed by McGraw....and, as call it poetic (or what), it took exactly 100 years for Boston to finally
become World Champions.
