Pacific Coast league pitcher Spider Baum was my great-grandfather and I've created a website to honor his baseball career. The site is incomplete, we need to add captions to photos and correct some type, but it's now open for viewing. You will find contributions by a wide range of baseball authors, dozens of newspaper articles from the early 1900's, scans of Spider's baseball cards and many photographs from our family archives. You'll be able to read a 1911 Sacramento Bee article that reports a foul ball pitched by Spider soared out of the ball park and hit his 2 year-old daughter, my grandmother, on her head as she sat in a baby carriage, temporarily paralyzing her.
