I think you have probably forgotten more of this kind of stuff, than I will ever know quite honestly.
All the things you mentioned do make sense to me now that I look back trying to remember opening the packs as a kid in the day.
I do seem to remember the upper series being combined, 6th & 7th. etc. during this time frame.
