One of the first whales I bumped against on ebay when I started actively pursuing caramel cards was Mike Schwartz (sp?) (no relation to Greg) whose ebay id was vendomecat. I forget his ebay id but he was always a master sniper back before everyone was sniping. He must have had a helluva collection of prewar cards judging from what he was buying and I believe he had one of the best T213 Coupon and Victory cards collections around, possibly because he was from Louisiana (New Orleans). Someone mentioned that perhaps his restaurant ventures might have had some problems and he was selling off his collection. I hope not.
Another guy on ebay who was a real go-getter was muskycaptain, who later was also a seller of prewar cards and seemed to have acquired some really nice cards. I can't remember his name (Pete?) but he was from Michigan I believe and a retired fishing captain, hence the name, I believe. I butted heads with him a lot and later bought cards from him when he started selling. Really nice guy.
Also there is Alan (ockday) a really super guy who also had a terrific collection and when he bid against you, you lost. I think Alan is taking a respite from collecting and posting. That's a shame, he was one of my favorite compaderies.
Finally there was beethoven14 on ebay who used to have a terrific inventory of prewar cards in great condition. I bought many cards from him, especially caramel cards in conditions that you rarely see anymore. He disappeared for a while and lately has sold some cards on ebay but it is obvious the once huge stock of prewar cards has been depleted.
