Default One quick and dirty way . . .

.
.
. . . of determining (possibly) an ebay disguise is to note the two characters and feedback value, and then matching those criteria to the buyers identities listed while viewing all of a sellers feedback. Works especially well with those sellers who you know have multiple transactons with your unknown opponent. Of course, it's only effective if the buyer leaves feedback for the seller.

Personally, I keep a log of fellow bidders, which I update quarterly. I had the pleasant surprise of meeting one of them at the last National show in Cleveland. Conversation at a dealer's table led to a discussion about a fairly unusual eBay item I lost out on, while another collector admitted to having won it. He was stunned that I knew his eBay ID. I told him there are not many Orlin Collier single signed baseballs out in the hobby. I was disappointed that the seller ended that particular sale early, especially since both of us had already placed a couple of bids each. And I knew my adversery was as agressive as I was on tough to find items. Always good to know who your competition is.
