AlSCD says says the 1978 cards say on the back they are reprinted from the newspaper. It does say the cartoons originally ran in a larger size format ( the cards are 2 3/8 x 5) and " are themselves highly collectible" with values 2 to 3 X that of the reprints. The originals were 3 x 6 3/8. It lists the reprints at $ 100 ( they originally sold for $ 6) I could not find listing for originals
