2. 1872 Chadwick's American Cricket Manual. Hardback; very colorful cover. Edges are worn. Rare. $295

3. 1875 DeWitt's Base Ball Umpire's Guide, edited by Henry Chadwick. Fragile, no covers. Housed in a custom box. $295

4. 1884 Chadwick's Sports and Pastimes of American Boys. Normal wear to cover. Insides are intact and nice. $175

5. 1889 Chadwick's Base Ball Manual. Tough time finding a nicer copy of this. $295

6. 1881 Boy's Own Book, A Complete Encyclopedia of Athletic, Scientific, Outdoor and Indoor Sports, With Illustrations. BB batter illustration on spine; playing boys illustration on front cover. Normal wear, but heavier at top and bottom of spine. $145.

7. 1885 Base Ball ABC by McLoughlin. This is not the high grade $5000 copy. The covers are coming off and are torn with big chips along the edges. The 26 colorful illustrations of boys playing baseball are intact and in much better shape. Despite condition problems, it is beautiful. $450 SOLD

8. 1889 Athletic Sports in America by Harry Clay Palmer. This is an abridged salesman copy, but it does contain the 4 color plates, 15 team photos and numerous other photos including the famous Sphinx photo. Some wear, but is a very nice copy with a beautiful cover. $175 SOLD

9. Our Base Ball Club by Noah Brooks. Considered the first baseball novel. 1896 edition. Nice, with a nice cover. $95

10. Five (5) early sports related books: $250
a. The Tribune Book of Open-Air Sports, by the New York Tribune, 1887. The baseball chapter has standings and a yearly synopsis from 1877-1887.
b. 1896 The Boy's Book of Sports and Outdoor Life by Maurice Thompson
c. 1907 The Book of Sports and Pastimes
d. The Boys Own Book of Outdoor Sports. Undated, but from the illustrations, it appears to me at about the 1860's
e. 1867 Manual of Physical Exercise by William Wood
(If not sold as a group, I will sell individually. My total asking price is about half what I have paid for these over the years.)
