Default For Sale: Tough 1924 WG7 Walter Mails Game DAVE BANCROFT (HOF)

Posted By: Rhett Yeakley

Available for sale is Dave Bancroft from the toughest of all 20th Century baseball game cards, the 1924 WG7 Walter Mails Game. What is even better is that the card features the MUCH TOUGHER BLUE BACK. The card features a very cool horizontal pose.

The Mails set only features 6 HOFers among it's 56 subjects, the reason was that the set features primarily PCL players or former PCL/West Coast standouts--which is the case with Bancroft. As the Mails game was produced in California this makes sense the would try to capitilize on the former/current PCL stars.

The neatest single thing about this card is probably the fact that the card features an error on front that was obviously quickly corrected in the much more common and widely-produced 2nd Printing of the Mails set, the Red Backs. The front of the Bancroft has his team name as the "Boston Browns" which of course incorrect and was corrected in the Red Back printing.

The condition of the card upon first glance is great but there is a crease/wrinkle that goes through the middle of the card that is more obvious in person than the scans show. It travels through Bancroft's front leg and body (from side-to-side)

Price on this card is $215 shipped.
