FPO is Fleet Post Office and that is followed by an "identifier" such as AA (Armed Forces Americas), AP (Armed Forces Pacific) or AE (Armed Forces Europe) depending on what theatre the person is serving in. I am currently forward deployed in Italy, so I'm in an FPO AE location. Each theatre has a different city that it's mail filters through. I don't know about the others, but I know AE goes through New York and from there gets to Europe.
