Dan McCarthyThe Adrian Beltre thing is really weird... he had 50 more hits and batted 60 points higher in '04 than he did in basically any other season. I don't think that steroid use improves hand-eye coordination, so I have no idea how to account for the improved avg and hits. His walk/strikeout numbers of '04 don't really differ from any other season, so it's not like he had any greater mastery of the strike zone. Maybe he was just lucky? Or maybe I'm wrong about the hand-eye thing?
