It's interesting to observe that in the year 1939, at least according to the chart you posted, when Henry Morgenthau, Jr. insisted the New Deal was a failure, a record number of Americans were employed. It's also worth noting that unemployment decreased dramatically in the year after Roosevelt entered the White House, which followed a deep drop that lasted much of Hoover's term. The chart does, however, indicate the stabilization began in a waning days of the Hoover administration ...
