I've taken several recent trips to Boston in recent years. Each time, I flew into Logan Airport and took public transportation to the Copley Square area, where I stayed. I was discouraged from renting a car in Boston, and I can see why. It's a traffic nightmare. But it's a relatively compact city, and it was easy to walk around. It seemed to me that the Copley Square area was perfectly situated for walks downtown as well as to Fenway Park. Each time I travelled to Boston, I followed up the visit with a trip up to New Hampshire and Vermont. When it came time to leave, I took the public transport back to the airport, where I then took a shuttle to a place just north of the city where all the rental car agencies are located.
