steve yawitzNot really a singular news story, but I would guess the shift from an adult-oriented hobby of tobacco advertising to the childhood pursuit of gum and candy cards.
We seem to have come full circle, as card collecting has virtually no hold on the imagination of today's kids. Maybe I'm overly pessimistic, but that development does not bode well for the long-term vitality of the hobby. I haven't read the Beckett article, but it sounds like it attests to the demise of the hobby with which we grew up and which primed us for our grown-up pursuit of old cardboard.
