Perhaps only my opinion, but, you're not a "crook" because you tried to remove, or did remove, a crease.

You would be a "crook" if you subsequently attempted to sell that card without informing the buyer that the creases had been "removed". Your remark about changing a "6 to a 9" is very troubling.
