I'd quit worrying about the Yankee's payroll. They probably have 5 free agents coming off of last years payroll.

Giambi - $23 million
Abreu - $16 million
Pettitte - $16 million (They offered him $10 million)
Mussina - $11 million
Pavano - $11 million

I think the can sign CC ($23 million), Burkett ($16 million) and even a few more and still pay the rent.
