As far as resizing goes, I use the paint program. I think every computer has a paint program. I right click on the photo in my pictures folder open picture up with the paint program, go to the top tool bar and under Image there is a drop down menu that says resize. I resize verticle and horizonal to 50% and it cuts the Scan size (KB's) down quite a bit.
