I'm pretty confident, based upon past history, that your check will be lost in the mail. However, being the stand-up guys they are, these guys will send you a book anyway. Unfortunately, the plane carrying that UPS shipment will never arrive at it's final destination. (Think - the new season of "Lost.")
Using track record as a guide, there is nothing you could have done to prevent this outcome.
