I totally get what you're saying about listing a card for less than the price paid. Not any fun. I have some cards that really don't fit my collection, but I realize that I can't expect to sell them now for what I paid. So I choose to keep them for now, rather than list them at prices that would appear out of whack with the current market.
As you said, if someone can get lucky by trying to make 15-25 percent more than what he paid for a card a year ago, more power to him. I expect that on eBay. I guess on the B/S/T, where you have supposedly knowledgeable buyers and sellers, it wouldn't be the norm.
But again, no harm, no foul.
