Default A question about ebay's new policies

Posted By: D. Bergin

What if you don't want to accept credit cards?

It is way too easy for a buyer to charge back on a credit card.

I think Ebay may be losing a lot of small sellers over that. Of course, that seems to be their purpose anyway.

I have a merchant account but I choose not to use it for Ebay sales because of the extra hassle involved. I'm starting to consider using it. It's a lot easier for a buyer to charge back a Paypal sale then it is to charge back a typical merchant account transaction.

In my experience a merchant account will investigate a transaction to see if it was actually fraudulent or if a package was actually lost before issuing a charge back.

Paypal will more then likely just issue a charge back on request without instituting any sort of an investigation.
