This debate goes all the way back to the dawn of time in our hobby about what makes a card "Very Good." The phrase "very good" means different things in different industries. How's the pie here? It's very good. Is it MINT? No, it's CHERRY!

I, for one, would vote for a third party grading system that simply described the surface (clean), edges (sharp), corners (somewhat rounded, (lack of) creases or wrinkles, authentic, unaltered, etc.

The idea that a single number between 1 and 10 could address all of these concerns in any detail is myopic. But it is a start...
