Default What Would It Take?

Posted By: Al C.risafulli

Great question.

None of the things in my collection that have financial value have any sentimental value, however.

In terms of sentimental value, my favorite card is my 1981 Fleer Craig Nettles error that my mother bought me for my birthday in 1981. She was working three jobs at the time just so we could exist, and paid a whopping $17 for the card, which was an outrageous sum.

Second would be my T206 Waddell portrait with four clipped corners and wrinkles all over. It was the first T206 I ever bought, for a dollar, in 1980 or so.

Last would be my 1964 Topps Billy Williams, currently an SGC 5. I bought the card in about 1981, when it was the nicest-condition vintage card I'd ever seen.

None of those three cards would ever be for sale, but if they were, they'd net me about $20.

In terms of financial value, my showpiece item is my '38 Goudey near set. Most of it is in SGC 7 or better, and I've pieced it together card by card. I can't even imagine what I'd unload it for.
