Default OT/....One of baseballs greatest teams?...Detroit Tigers

Brian:
I was wondering how long it would take to get a disagreement on the "Rose over Cabrera" comparison... I thought I'd get hammered more on that one, as this was the one I labored with the most.

You are probably right about Cabrera "on paper", but having lived and breathed it back in the day, I can tell you that Rose was so tough under pressure and in games that mattered. He really brought with him an infectious "never say die" attitude. This was well before all of the gambling nonsense and other poor decisions he made. Unfortunately (and perhaps deservedly so) he will be remembered more for the corruption. But the man did amass more hits than Cobb, for Pete's sake. (horrible unintended pun.... sorry!)

Larry:
I agree with you about the '27 Yanks vs. the '76 Reds... probably Yankees in seven. But wouldn't that be an amazing World Series to watch? Perhaps not the greatest pitching, but what a potential slugfest... a meeting of the Gods!
