Ted ZanidakisAs you you probably know, American Lithographic printed these cards employing a 6-color process.
Upon the initial BROWN (or BLACK) ink application, YELLOW has always been the 2nd inking in this
printing process. RED is usually the last ink to be applied. The following examples are evidence of this.
Application of the Brown ink first, followed by Yellow ink, is illustrated by this proof card of Johnson.
Note....the hint of Yellow subsequently creates the Green backdrop, when the Blue ink is applied.

These three cards illustrate the interim inking stages prior to the final application of the RED ink.
