I had this same discussion a couple months ago with some fellow collectors, and three of us decided on the Canon CanoScan 4400F. It has CCD and is under $100. All of us that have it love it.

It's actually $85, and if you use the Super Saver Shipping, shipping is free. When I did it, I got the scanner 2 days after I ordered it.
