No offense taken, Jeff, but the all-in-one may be getting a bad rap -or maybe I just got a decent one.

All scans on the site linked above were taken with the All-In-One - I think the quality is just fine. I do use the "DeScreen" option in the HP Scanning software - it makes a significant difference in reducing the typical moire patterns. I have never had a problem with its ability to focus through slabs.
