DMcDCollege Sports: University of Hawaii [bush league program but the state gets pumped when they win anything] GO BOWS
MLB: Giants fan since NYC days [but hard not to gag during the Bonds era; otw like just about any pre-expansion team; hope I live long enough to see a Cubs-Red Sox World Series, walk off homer wins Game 7 for Chicago]
NFL: Niners [lived in the Bay Area during the Montana Rice days; you could not help but love Walsh's guys; too bad they currently suck; the Niners will rise again!]
NBA: Loved the Larry Bird Celtics , don't have a team now but would like to see Victoria boy Steve Nash win the Big One.
NHL: Hockey gets no respect from you guys, does it? Bit of a goon show, I know, but if they ever succeed in toning the violence down Lord All Mighty it is an exciting game. Favorite team: Max's Canucks, then any team north of the 49th parallel.
Favorite ballplayer of all time: Moose Skowron when I was a kid. Now, if can only pick one, Matty. Honorable Mention to Bobby Thomson who gave us Giants fans one of the best sports moments ever and a mensch to boot.
Favorite athlete, non-ballplayer: Gotta be The Greatest, Muhammad Ali.
Bonus category:
Favorite sportscasters: Ol' Diz and Pee Wee. Thanks, podners, for bringing MLB to the boonies of Colorado in 1962. Pee Wee: "What did he just throw?" Diz: "I believe that's a baseball." Props also to Hank Greenwald, SF Giants radio announcer. Intelligent, low-key, knew when to speak, when to shut up. A thinking man's play-by-play man.
Vintage cards, scantily-clad Hawaiian maidens, uku-zillion penguins, authentic Dutch people and more at . .
